About Cervantes
Cervantes is a town in Western Australia about 198 km north of Perth in the Shire of Dandaragan, on the shore of the Jurien Bay Marine Park. Established in 1962 for workers in the cray fishing industry, the town is named after the American whaling ship Cervantes, wrecked nearby in 1844, which was in turn named after the author of Don Quixote. Cervantes is the gateway to the Pinnacles Desert in Nambung National Park.
