About Vincent
Vincent is a residential suburb of Townsville in the City of Townsville, Queensland, located 7.8 kilometres southwest of the Townsville central business district on traditional Wulgurukaba (Manbarra) Aboriginal country. Named on 1 January 1967 after Major William Slade Vincent of the volunteer militia, the first commanding officer of the 3rd Queensland Regiment (Kennedy Regiment) based at Kissing Point, the suburb contains Vincent State School which opened on 30 January 1968 and Townsville Christian College, a private Prep-12 school. Parts of the suburb suffered major structural and tree damage from a tornado on 20 March 2012.
