About Currajong
Currajong is a residential suburb in the City of Townsville, Queensland, located 4.9 kilometres southwest of the Townsville central business district. Named after currajong (Brachychiton) trees planted around 1888 by Edward Hunt at his residence in Stagpole Street, the suburb is situated on traditional Wulgurukaba (Manbarra) Aboriginal country. Currajong State School opened on 28 June 1954 and the Marian Catholic School operates at 140 Corcoran Street. The suburb is bounded by North Townsville Road to the north and contains Warrina Park.
