About Kalkadoon

Kalkadoon is a residential suburb of Mount Isa, named after the Kalkadoon people, the Traditional Custodians of the Mount Isa region. The Kalkadoon were renowned for their finely crafted stone tools, and in 1884 mounted a famous last stand against European settlers at Battle Mountain. The suburb sits on the western bank of the Leichhardt River within the City of Mount Isa.
