About Booval
Booval is a residential suburb in the City of Ipswich, Queensland, located three kilometres east of the Ipswich CBD and 37 kilometres south-west of Brisbane. The name derives from an Ugarapul language word meaning frilled lizard. The first large-scale cotton crops in Queensland were grown here in the 1860s and Booval railway station opened in 1876. Heritage-listed sites include the Booval War Memorial and Booval House. All Saints Anglican Church, originally built in 1896, was moved on beer barrels in 1913. The suburb is home to the Booval Swifts rugby league club.
