About Blackstone
Blackstone is a suburb of Ipswich, Queensland, on the city's eastern side, its origins as a coal mining town dating to the discovery of coal in 1866. Lewis Thomas, the West Moreton Coal King, brought Welsh miners to settle here in the 1880s, and the heritage-listed United Welsh Church hosted the district's first eisteddfod in 1887, a Welsh cultural tradition that continues today.
