About Newtown (Ipswich - Qld)

Newtown is a small suburb of Ipswich, Queensland, Australia, located 41 kilometres south-west of Brisbane. Named after John Rankin's housing estate established around 1865, the suburb is bordered by Queens Park and Brisbane Road. It contains several heritage sites, including Rockton (1855), one of the oldest surviving colonial villas in Ipswich, and is served by East Ipswich railway station.
