About East Ipswich
East Ipswich is a residential inner-city suburb of Ipswich in the City of Ipswich, Queensland, located 2.5 kilometres east of the Ipswich central business district and 38.5 kilometres west of Brisbane. One of the older suburbs in Ipswich, it is named for its position east of the town centre and is bordered by the Bremer River to the north and west and Brisbane Road to the south. The Apostolic Church of Queensland was officially opened here on 12 June 1949 as the first Apostolic church in Ipswich, originally erected at Waterford before being demolished and rebuilt by volunteer labour. Ipswich East State School opened on 28 January 1958. The heritage-listed Kyeewa residence at 1 York Street was built circa 1890.
