About Stones Corner

Stones Corner is an inner southern suburb of the City of Brisbane, Queensland, located 5.7 kilometres south-southeast of the Brisbane central business district at the junction of Logan Road and Old Cleveland Road, two of Brisbane's oldest roads. Originally known as Burnett's Swamp, the name derives from James Stone who purchased land at the road junction in 1875 and brewed and sold ginger beer after failing to obtain a hotel licence. The suburb was absorbed into Greenslopes in 1975 but the community campaigned successfully to reinstate it as a separate suburb in November 2017. The heritage-listed Hanlon Park Bur'uda is a 5.2-hectare urban parkland transformed from one of Brisbane's oldest open concrete drains, completed in 2022. The suburb also features the heritage-listed Stones Corner Air Raid Shelter at 286 Logan Road and the Stones Corner Hotel which opened in 1888.
