About Woolloongabba
Woolloongabba is an inner southern suburb of Brisbane, about 2 to 3 km southeast of the CBD, best known as the home of The Gabba, one of Australia's most iconic sporting venues hosting international cricket, AFL and major events. The name derives from an Aboriginal expression possibly meaning "meeting place," and the area features the Princess Alexandra Hospital, heritage buildings along Stanley Street and a growing dining precinct. The suburb is undergoing significant redevelopment including the Cross River Rail project.
