About Rossbridge

Rossbridge is a town in the Rural City of Ararat in western Victoria, about 25 kilometres south of Ararat on the road towards the coast. It takes its name from Ross's Bridge over the Hopkins River, itself named after John Ross, a selector of the Mount William Plains pastoral run. Established in the 1860s, the town had a post office from 1873 and a primary school from 1872 until its closure in 1993.
