About Netherby (Vic.)
Netherby is a rural village in the Shire of Hindmarsh in north-west Victoria, roughly 25 kilometres north of Nhill. Originally called Warraquil, it was renamed in 1886 after the British ship Netherby, wrecked on King Island in 1866 carrying 452 emigrants to Brisbane; many castaways settled in the district.
