About Broughton (Vic.)

Broughton is a rural locality in north-west Victoria, straddling the West Wimmera and Hindmarsh shires roughly 33 kilometres north-west of Nhill. It was named after the Broughton family, who owned several grazing properties in the area beginning with John Broughton's 'Ballarook' in 1870. The surrounding landscape is typical Wimmera grazing country on the Victorian plains.
