About Beenak

Beenak is a rural locality in the Yarra Ranges Shire of Victoria, north of Bunyip State Park, where Mount Beenak rises to 744 metres. The name is thought to come from an Aboriginal word for hand-basket. Timber milling once flourished in the ranges, and the Kurth Kiln nearby produced charcoal for gas during the Second World War.
