About Mordialloc

Mordialloc is a beachside suburb of Melbourne, about 24 km south-east of the central business district, in the City of Kingston. The suburb and its creek take their name from an Aboriginal expression meaning roughly 'near the little sea' or 'little sea mouth'. Originally a fishing village, Mordialloc later became a popular seaside resort for Melburnians, and the 1889 Mordialloc Pier and the boat-building yards of Mordialloc Creek remain local landmarks.
