About Aspendale

Aspendale is a bayside suburb of Melbourne, 27 km south-east of the central business district, in the City of Kingston on the shore of Port Phillip Bay. Its name comes from the racehorse Aspen, and the suburb grew around Aspendale Park Racecourse, which operated until the late 1940s and gave its name to the railway station. Today Aspendale is largely residential, with a sandy beach, rows of beach huts and a CSIRO marine and atmospheric research facility.
