About Loongana
Loongana is a rural locality in the Central Coast local government area of north-west Tasmania, about 49 kilometres south-west of Ulverstone. The Leven River flows through the locality from west to east and forms much of its eastern boundary, with the Leven Canyon on this stretch of the river. The name, in use for the locality by 1903, is believed to be an Aboriginal word meaning "run swiftly".
