About Gawler (Tas.)
Gawler is a rural locality in the Central Coast local government area of north-west Tasmania, about eight kilometres south of Ulverstone. It is named after the Gawler River, which flows through the district to the Leven River and was named in 1844 for Governor Gawler of South Australia. The area is dairying and mixed-farming country in the fertile hinterland of the Leven River valley.
