About Forth
Forth is a small village in north-west Tasmania, on the Forth River about 11 kilometres west of Devonport and 110 kilometres north-west of Launceston. Previously known as Hamilton-on-Forth, the village predates the larger settlement of Devonport and was laid out in 1854. The surrounding area is productive farming country, and the nearby Forthside facility carries out research for the state's dairy industry.
