About Turners Beach
Turners Beach is a small town on the north coast of Tasmania, almost equidistant between the cities of Devonport and Ulverstone. It lies at the western mouth of the Forth River where it opens into Bass Strait, opposite the village of Leith on the eastern bank. The area was first settled by Europeans in 1840, and the town, originally known as Scott's Beach, was renamed in 1961 after local councillor Glen Turner. Its beach offers fine white sand and good swimming and fishing.
