About Leith
Leith is a semi-rural locality on the north-west coast of Tasmania, about 10 km east of Ulverstone, where the Forth River estuary meets Bass Strait. Originally planned as a port called Port Fenton, it was renamed after Edinburgh's seaport when the river mouth silted up. The locality, gazetted in 1962, is known for its Bass Strait shoreline and is said to be home to Tasmania's oldest wishing well.
