About Rubyanna
Rubyanna is a rural locality on the northern fringe of Bundaberg in Queensland, approximately 15 kilometres north of Bundaberg's city centre. The area holds deep historical significance as the site where experimental sugar cane was first cultivated in the Bundaberg district in 1870, on John Charlton Thompson's property, sparking the region's entire sugar industry. Today sugar cane fields continue to dominate the landscape.
