About Kalkie

Kalkie is a residential suburb of Bundaberg in the Bundaberg Region, Queensland, located 5.3 kilometres east-north-east of the Bundaberg CBD and bounded to the west by the Burnett River. Kalkie State School, opened on 11 February 1878, is heritage-listed, and the suburb is home to St Luke's Anglican School, a private Prep-12 school opened in 1994. Kalkie inspired the iconic Australian song Sounds of Then (This is Australia) by GANGgajang.
