About Bundaberg East
Bundaberg East is a residential and commercial suburb of Bundaberg in the Bundaberg Region, Queensland, located four kilometres east-north-east of the Bundaberg CBD and 368 kilometres north-north-west of Brisbane. The Millaquin Sugar Mill, opened in 1881 for sugar juice extraction and expanded to refining in 1885, is a key landmark. Heritage-listed sites include Kennedy Bridge, the Saltwater Creek Railway Bridge and the East Bundaberg Water Tower, erected in 1901-1902. In 2005, Bundaberg Brewed Drinks opened the Bundaberg Barrel tourist facility, one of Australia's big things, and the Bundaberg Rum Distillery on Hills Street offers tours, museum and tastings.
