About Kinbombi

Kinbombi is a rural locality in the Gympie Region of the Wide Bay in Queensland, located about 6 kilometres east-southeast of Goomeri and 69 kilometres west of Gympie. Named from the Kabi Aboriginal language meaning a fight concerning a woman, the landscape features granite formations and bushland along Kinbombi Creek with the Wide Bay Highway passing through. Kinbombi Falls, 4 kilometres south of the highway, is a popular free camping and bushwalking destination with cascading falls and a gorge, and the Kilkivan to Kingaroy Rail Trail passes through the area following the old railway line with a high steel bridge crossing Kinbombi Creek.
