About Craignish
Craignish is a coastal locality in the Fraser Coast Region of Queensland, located 4.7 kilometres west of Hervey Bay and 301 kilometres north of Brisbane. Named after the property Craignish at Dundowran owned by Robert Campbell, a Scottish name meaning rugged rocky place, his wife Elizabeth Campbell donated the land for the school which took the name as a token of gratitude. Craignish State School opened on 24 January 1938 and closed in 1961. O'Regan Creek is named after Maurice O'Regan, a pioneer timbergetter in the area from 1835 to 1920. The locality is bounded west by Toogoom Cane Road, northwest by O'Regan Creek and north by the coast overlooking Hervey Bay.
