About Eli Waters

Eli Waters is a coastal suburb of Hervey Bay in the Fraser Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. Situated between Urraween and Point Vernon, it is bounded to the north by Hervey Bay. The suburb takes its name from Eli Creek, which flows through the locality from Urraween to the bay; the name is believed to derive from an Aboriginal term for "sand crab." The northern portion consists of undeveloped wetlands, while the south is a master-planned residential area featuring a series of artificial lakes, walking trails, and parkland. Eli Waters Shopping Centre and Xavier Catholic College are notable local amenities. The suburb was formerly used for farming and grazing before its residential development.
