About West End (Townsville - Qld)
West End is an inner suburb of Townsville, Queensland, located approximately two kilometres west of the Townsville central business district. Situated on a low-lying peninsula formed by Ross Creek and its tidal estuary, the suburb is bounded to the north by Stuart Drive and to the south by Ross River. Originally part of the early settlement area, West End was gazetted as a suburb in 1946. The area features a mix of residential housing, light commercial premises, and the West End State School. Its proximity to Townsville's central business district and the Strand foreshore precinct makes it a convenient residential location.
