About Hermit Park

Hermit Park is an inner suburb of Townsville, located about two kilometres southwest of the city centre. Originally the Boiling Down Paddock of pastoralist Robert Towns, the area was purchased by Leo Sachs in 1877 and dubbed Hermit Park after a bachelor establishment on the property. Subdivision began in 1884 and the suburb was fully built up by the late 1940s.
