About Hyde Park (Qld)
Hyde Park is a suburb of Townsville, Queensland, Australia, located four kilometres south-west of the CBD. Named after Hyde Park in London, the area was originally sugar plantations established in 1866 and later brickworks in the 1880s. It features inter-war housing including Queenslanders and Californian bungalows, and is home to Hermit Park State School (1924), St Margaret Mary's College (1963), and the Regent Cinema.
