About Townsville City
Townsville City is a coastal suburb at the centre of Townsville in north Queensland, bounded by the Coral Sea to the north and Ross Creek to the south-east, and overlooked by Castle Hill. It is the city's central business district and a hub for government and business across northern Australia, with many of the region's office towers and heritage-listed buildings. The suburb takes its name from Robert Towns, a merchant who backed early pastoral settlement in the Ross River district.
