About North Ward
North Ward is a coastal suburb of Townsville in North Queensland, lying between Castle Hill and the Coral Sea just north of the city centre. One of Townsville's oldest suburbs, originally known as Townsville North, its housing was largely built by the 1920s and the suburb retains many heritage residential streetscapes. It fronts the Coral Sea along The Strand, a popular waterfront promenade with a rockpool, a waterpark and views across to Magnetic Island.
