About Rosslea

Rosslea is a suburb of Townsville in the City of Townsville, Queensland, located 5.6 kilometres southeast of the Townsville central business district. The name combines Ross from the Ross River and lea, the Old English word for a grassy meadow. Situated in traditional Wulgurukaba Aboriginal country, the suburb is bounded to the east and south by the Ross River. The Townsville Golf Club, the oldest golf club in Queensland established in 1893, relocated to Rosslea on 18 April 1924 and occupies the eastern half of the suburb with an 18-hole course. Parts of Rosslea were affected by the 2019 Townsville flood.
