About Cranbrook (Qld)
Cranbrook is a south-western suburb of Townsville, located about 10 kilometres from the city centre on the north side of the Ross River. Formally named in 1968 after Cranbrook, the Sydney home of Robert Towns, after whom Townsville was named, the suburb includes Ignatius Park College and the Kmart Plaza shopping centre. It is predominantly residential with associated schools and parkland.
