About Thuringowa Central
Thuringowa Central is a suburb of Townsville in the City of Townsville, Queensland, located 12.8 kilometres southeast of the Townsville central business district. It was the central business district of the former City of Thuringowa before its amalgamation with the City of Townsville in 2008. The suburb is shaped like an inverted T with residential housing in the north, commercial buildings in the centre and southwest and recreational areas along the Ross River in the southeast. The Willows Shopping Centre is a major retail hub and the CityLibraries Townsville headquarters opened in 1986. The Riverway Arts Centre houses the Pinnacles Art Gallery featuring North Queensland artists. Ross River Road is the main east-west thoroughfare.
