About Barratta (Qld)

Barratta is a rural locality in the Shire of Burdekin, approximately 16 kilometres west of Ayr in north Queensland. The landscape is divided between grazing on native vegetation in the north and sugarcane farming in the south, with cane tramways transporting harvest to the Pioneer sugar mill. The Barratta Creek wetlands within the locality form part of the Bowling Green Bay Ramsar site and are recognised as one of the most intact remnant wetland ecosystems along the east coast of Queensland.
