About Palmwoods (Qld)
Palmwoods is a rural town in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, about 100 km north of Brisbane and a short drive inland from the Blackall Range villages. Once called Merriman's Flat, it was renamed in 1891 when the North Coast railway arrived and the district became a hub for pineapple and fruit growing. Today it is known for its cafes and eclectic eateries, its historic timber railway complex and its role as a gateway to Montville and the hinterland.
