About North Maleny

North Maleny is a rural locality in the Sunshine Coast Region of Queensland, about 3.2 kilometres north-east of Maleny on the Blackall Range at an elevation of around 300 metres. The rolling green hills and subtropical vegetation sit on fertile basalt soils within the Obi Obi Creek catchment, and Baroon Pocket Dam, a major Sunshine Coast water supply completed in 1989, is located in the locality. Kondalilla National Park, with its ninety metre waterfall and subtropical rainforest, lies nearby, and the area is known for its arts community, organic food culture and hobby farms.
