About Witta

Witta is a rural town and locality in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia, located 8.7 kilometres north-west of Maleny in the Blackall Ranges. Originally settled in 1887 by German immigrants and named Teutoberg, it was renamed Witta in 1916 during World War I, from the Kabi Aboriginal word 'wetya' meaning dingo. The hinterland village features Lutheran heritage, bushland, and rolling green hills.
