About Alexandra Headland
Alexandra Headland is a coastal suburb between Maroochydore and Mooloolaba on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. Located on a rocky headland between the Maroochy and Mooloolah River estuaries, it was originally called Potts Point after overseer John Potts who resided there from 1880 to 1890. The locality was renamed in 1901 in honour of Queen Alexandra, wife of King Edward VII, with the name gazetted in 1915 when Thomas O'Connor subdivided the land. Alexandra Headland features a 1.8 kilometre coastal frontage with surf breaks, patrolled beaches, and headland walking tracks.
