About Townview
Townview is a residential suburb of Mount Isa in the City of Mount Isa, Queensland, located 1.6 kilometres east of the Mount Isa central business district. Situated on the townside east of the Leichhardt River which divides Mount Isa into mineside and townside, the suburb is slightly more elevated than other parts of Mount Isa at 380 metres above sea level, giving views of the town and presumably giving the suburb its name. The spelling Townview was standardised in 2003 at the request of the Mount Isa City Council, having previously been written as Town View. Townview State School opened on 25 January 1965 and the suburb is bounded to the north by the Barkly Highway.
