About Hughenden
Hughenden is a rural town and locality in the Flinders Shire of outback Queensland, situated on the banks of the Flinders River approximately 376 kilometres west of Townsville. The town is the seat of the Flinders Shire and a major centre for the grazing of sheep and cattle on the Flinders grass plains, named after Hughenden Manor in Buckinghamshire, England, the home of former British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli. Hughenden is known for its dinosaur replica of the Muttaburrasaurus, the Historic Coolabah Tree where Burke and Wills search expeditions left blazes in 1861, and the landmark Flinders River landscape.
