About Richmond (Richmond - Qld)
Richmond is a rural town and locality in north-west Queensland and the administrative centre of the Shire of Richmond. It lies on the Flinders Highway, with the Flinders River flowing through the locality. Named after the Richmond Downs pastoral run, which drew its name from the Richmond River in northern New South Wales, the town is a base for fossil discoveries from the ancient Eromanga Sea, displayed at the Kronosaurus Korner museum.
