Almaden is a small rural town and locality in the Shire of Mareeba in Far North Queensland, about 172 kilometres west-south-west of Cairns. Situated on the Mareeba-to-Chillagoe railway line, the town is surrounded by savannah woodland and cattle country in the Hodgkinson goldfield district.
