About Mount Pleasant (Mackay - Qld)
Mount Pleasant is a residential suburb in the Mackay Region, Queensland, Australia, located 5.4 km northwest of the Mackay CBD. Situated on the traditional lands of the Yuwibara people, it was named after the Mount Pleasant sugar mill, which operated from 1883 to 1887 before being dismantled due to wet weather and labour shortages. Bounded by the Pioneer River, Fursden Creek, and the Bruce Highway, notable landmarks include the Mount Pleasant Shopping Centre, Gordon White Library, and Mackay Private Hospital.
