About Waterford (Qld)
Waterford is a town and suburb in the City of Logan in Queensland, located 34 kilometres south-east of the Brisbane central business district. The town is believed to be named by Irish settlers after Waterford in Ireland because of a ford in the Logan River. The first town lots were offered for sale in July 1866 and the Beaudesert railway line opened on 21 September 1885. The heritage-listed Waterford State School at 40 Nerang Street was established in 1869. Canterbury College, an Anglican Prep-12 school, was established on 2 February 1987.
