About Bethania

Bethania is a residential suburb in the City of Logan, about 25 km south-east of central Brisbane, named after the biblical Bethany by German Lutheran settlers who took up land here in the 1864. The heritage-listed Bethania Lutheran Church, built in 1872, is the oldest Lutheran church in Queensland, and the suburb retains a rural hobby-farm pocket beside the Logan River. It is served by the Beenleigh railway line, with the Beaudesert branch line once diverging here.
