About Hatton Vale
Hatton Vale is a rural locality in the Lockyer Valley Region of Queensland, located 70.8 kilometres west of Brisbane along the Warrego Highway. Originally known as Tarampa Woolshed, the area was settled by German migrants in the 1870s and 1880s under close settlement arrangements. Named after the evangelist Heinrich Friedrich Niemeyer who established it as the centre of the Apostolic Church of Queensland, Hatton Vale features the Hatton Vale Apostolic Cathedral, a 1,200-seat church at 3 Niemeyer Road which is the headquarters of the Apostolic Church of Queensland. A former Lutheran church built in 1881 is also present. The Lockyer Valley is rated among the top 10 most fertile farming areas in the world, known as Australia's Salad Bowl.
