About Lyra
Lyra is a rural locality in the Southern Downs Region of Queensland, located about 24 kilometres southwest of Stanthorpe and 241 kilometres from Brisbane in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range. Named after the constellation Lyra by the Queensland Railway Department, the area features Accommodation Creek and Bald Rock Creek with vineyards including Sirromet Wines, and borders Girraween National Park to the east. The Lyra railway station was established in 1887 when the Southern railway line was extended to Wallangarra, and land use is a mixture of horticulture and grazing.
