About Somme

Somme is a rural locality in the Southern Downs Region of Queensland, situated in the Granite Belt area about 24 kilometres south-west of Stanthorpe. The locality was named after the Battle of the Somme in northern France, one of the largest engagements for the Australian Imperial Forces in World War I. Bounded by the Severn River, the area is used for broad-acre cropping and grazing.
